Installation
Come on, we're not going to tell you how to fit a fuse! Quick and easy install!
Ok, we'll tell you a few things. On the SE there's two sets of fuses in the front. You'll need more than one set of these fuses if you want to replace every fuse as there's over 30 fuses on the Esprit. We used some pilars to get out the stiff fuses.
In the main fuse box, the gaps are a bit tight for the new fuses. We used a 5mm drill bit to open them up to fit the extra width of the glow! We started replacing the fuses with the set we have. We've got another set on it's way. We replaced the 2amp with 3amp as there's no 2's in the set. Plus you need plenty of 10's and 15's. We might talk to Elise Parts about getting an Esprit set made up!
We didn't have enough fuse, until our next kit turns up, so we didn't want to blow one just to show you. So here's the pictures of the display Elise from the Donington Show. They Glow when they Blow!
LEW's Verdict
As soon as we saw these at the Donington show we wanted a set. This is a great idea, especially for the Esprit, which does have earthing issues and not the most reliable electrics, which can cause blown fuses and give you problems. Fuses are one of the first things you should check it you have any electrical problems, followed by the relays. But it's something we all forget. When we remember, checking every fuse can be a pain. Most of the time you have to pull the fuse to check if it's blown or not. NOT ANY MORE! You'll spot any problems almost immediately and maybe even find problems you didn't know you had!
During our ownership of LEW's Esprit, we have had a few blown fuses. One caused us untold trouble. Our alarm would go off a couple of minutes after it had been set. The horn stopped working (which we thought was the end of the horns life) and our interior light was out. The second two we didn't notice at first, but the alarm had us pulling our hair out for weeks. When we noticed the interior light was out, we checked the fuse and replaced a blown fuse. Our alarm was fixed, which ran of the interior light fuse, the horn worked and we had our interior light back!
With these cheap fuses in your Esprit, these problems will be gone. We fully back this product and recommend every Esprit owner changes every fuse in their Esprits for Glow Fuses. You'd be stupid not to! Probably one of the best products ever invented for the motor industry. We're sure there's plenty of garages that will lose out on a lot of 'blown fuse' business in the near future.
