The Bond Museum
See the Esprits from the Bond Movies
The biggest private collection in the world of James Bond movie memorabilia will form the basis of a purpose built 007 tribute museum opening next week in the unlikely setting of Cumbria’s tourist capital.
Bond enthusiast Peter Nelson has built up a unique collection of Bond creator Ian Fleming’s special agent’s cars, weaponry and gadgets which will all be on show in Keswick where he already runs another museum packed with many of the ‘Cars of the Stars’ vehicles that have become movie and television icons over the past 30 years.
Peter’s astonishing collection of Bond cars including Aston Martins and Lotus vehicles genuinely driven by 007s including Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan will form the basis of the new museum. During his collecting spree Peter began acquiring Bond cars such as the Vanquish Aston Martin driven by Pierce Brosnan in ‘Die Another Day’; the DB5 from ‘Goldeneye’; the Aston Martin V8 from ‘Living Daylights’; the Roger Moore white Lotus Esprit Turbo from ‘For Your Eyes Only’; the Lotus Esprit S1 from ‘The Spy Who Loves Me’; the Mustang from ‘Diamonds are Forever’; the Renault taxi from ‘A View to Kill’; and the Tuk Tuk taxi from ‘Octopussy’.
But also on show will be the underwater submarine from ‘The Spy Who Loves Me’; a rocket firing motorcycle from ‘Thunderball’; the hovercraft from ‘Die Another Day’; the Glastron speedboat from ‘Live and Let Die’; and, of course, that Russian tank.
“Like many people I grew up with James Bond movies and it has been a thrill to acquire so many cars and props from the films for what I believe is now the biggest private collection of 007 memorabilia in the world.
“Some of the items have been donated by the actors and crews from the films, and many of the vehicles going on show in our new museum have never been seen by the public before.”
Ask Peter who his favourite Bond is and he says: “Each one was perfect for the era the films were made. But my own personal favourite film is Goldfinger because I believe the gadget laden Aston Martin DB5 is the greatest car ever made.” And he should know – he owns two!
The museum will open to the public on Sunday April 5th when Peter will unveil a bust in memory of what would have been the 100th birthday of the great Bond movie producer Albert R (Cubby) Broccoli.

Giugiaro Esprit wanted for photoshoot...
Classic Car Magazine
We are trying to find an owner of an Esprit Turbo (Giugiaro shape) who would be willing to attend a photoshoot for Classic Cars magazine. We assembling a small group of roughly similar sports and supercars to illustrate a feature about buying and owning such machines – making the dream come true, in other words.
Perhaps unusually, the feature will be almost as much about the owner as about the car, so they must be prepared to chat to us about the ownership experience. We’ll be asking about why they settled on this particular model, what they love about it, how they located it and so on, plus what it’s like to live with. Whether it’s been a total delight or a stressful challenge isn’t too important, as long as we’re honest with the readers.
The shoot will be in the second or third week of August, probably on a weekday, and either in Cheshire or the M25/outer London area. Sorry to be vague, but the best location depends to some extent on where we can find the cars.
Please contact us (details below) if you're interested in a day out with fellow enthusiasts. We’ll pay for all fuel and refreshments.

ClubLotus Parts Fair
Venue Change for 10th October 2009
In response to many requests from both Club members and traders we will be organising a Club Lotus Parts Fair again this autumn – but not at Stoneleigh this time.
The date is Saturday October 10th and the new venue is the Three Counties Showground, near Malvern, Worcestershire, WR13 6NW. This is an attractive and well-maintained showground in a central part of the country and the Parts Fair will be held inside the modern 2500sqm Avon Hall.
The other big news is that we’ve decided to combine forces this year with Andrew Greenwood, who’s been running motoring shows and
events for over 23 years. Andrew will be running his regular and very successful Great Malvern Autojumble on the same day with around 200 stands of general interest in the Wye Hall and your £6 entry ticket will admit you to both shows which has to be a bargain!
There will be plenty of free Lotus-only parking right next to the hall plus excellent on-site catering all day so come along, meet some friends and pick up that bargain before winter sets in. Full information and booking forms will be sent to all of our registered traders
and past exhibitors by the end of this month.

007 Esprit sells for £105k...
Reported in the Sun Newspaper
The star car from the 1981 Bond movie For Yours Eyes Only was up for grabs at auction as we reported a week or so ago. Estimates of £90,-£110k were mentioned by the Mirror newspaper. The Esprit sold for £105,000 at the Oxfordshire auction according to the sun newspaper. Pretty good price considering the current credit crunch. No reports on whether it went to a museum or a private collection or on the first Esprit ever made, which was also up at the same auction. If anyone hears anything please let us know.

Everyone wanted an Esprit V8, but what about a V12!
Jason from Canada started to put a BMW V12 (M70) with dry sump and BMW fuel injection into his 1978 Esprit. Plenty of work has been done and he has posted a video of the engine running in the Esprit. Cooling and gearbox issue may give Jason some headaches, but we look forward to seeing this project completed. Lotus Esprit V12 sounds nice ;-)
007 Esprit for £100k... Is it for your drives only?
From Queutin Wilson in the Sunday Mirror
The first Lotus Esprit ever made and the star car from the 1981 Bond movie For Yours Eyes Only is up for grabs this week with an estimate of £90,-£110k. OPW 678W may not be as valuable as Goldfinger's Aston Martin DB5, but at this money it's got to be the most expensive 1980s Esprit in the world.
New Adjustable Regulator
For 4-cylinder Esprits
This new adjustable regulator is suitable for all Esprit Turbo, SE, S4, S4s Sport 300 and GT3. When you dirve with a higher boost level (more then 1.1 Bar) the standard regulator reachs his limit. Our new performance adjustable regulator is able to increase the fuel pressure up to a boost level of 2.0 bar. A slightly increase of fuel pressure effects the same like larger fuel injectors therefore our new fuel regulator is a perfect addition to other performance improvements.
Easy installation: The bolt-on adapter replaces the original regulator and the fuel pressure gauge allows to adjust the pressure to the correct setting (a data sheet is included). Price: €320.- excl. VAT
2009 Oxford Meeting
Credit Crunch hits LEW Meeting
With the credit crunch hitting most, the 2009 Oxford Meeting will be one of it's many victims. With the rising cost of the venue, attendance falling in recent years and most cutting back on outgoining, we felt that it would be difficult to put together an event to match those of previous years. Hopefully 2008 won't be the last meeting of it's type and if things improve next year, we will look to again put on the best Esprit event of the year.
